Welcome to Emess. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a secure experience on our messaging platform. This policy explains how we handle your data.

1. Google Data Disclosure & Usage

When you sign up via Google, we access the following information:

  • Data Accessed: Your Google email address, name, and profile picture URL.
  • Purpose: We use this data strictly to create your account, authenticate your identity, and personalize your dashboard.
  • Limited Use: Emess's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

2. Message Content & Privacy

Emess is a private messaging platform.

  • Privacy: Message content is only visible to the Author and authorized Platform Administrators for the purpose of template approval and security monitoring.
  • Security: All data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS protocols.
  • Templates: To prevent spam and inappropriate content, users must use or submit message templates for administrator approval.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

  • Carriers: To deliver SMS, we send the message content and recipient number directly to local network operators in the DRC. No Google user data is ever shared with these operators.
  • No Other Third Parties: We do not share your information with any other third-party services.

4. Data Storage & Sovereignty

  • Message Data: All message content and logs are stored on secure servers located within the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
  • System Data: Account authentication and system metadata are hosted on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

5. Retention & Deletion

  • 90-Day Policy: Message content is stored for 90 days. After this period, an automated system deletes the message body.
  • Metadata: We retain anonymized metadata (e.g., message length, segment count) indefinitely for billing and analytics.
  • User Deletion: You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us at privacy@emess.cd
